A Shakespearean Heavyweight
Stewart appeared in over 60 Royal Shakespeare Company productions - taking on roles including Antony, Macbeth, Othello, Prospero and Shylock.
His stage achievements earned him multiple Olivier Awards as he won Best Supporting Actor for his roles in Antony and Cleopatra and Hamlet in 1979 and 2009 respectively.
He also made his Broadway debut in 1971 Peter Brook's acclaimed production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
