A Liverpool Girl With Big Dreams

Coleen was born in Liverpool in April 1986 and grew up in Croxteth, the eldest of three children.

Her father, Tony McLoughlin, was a bricklayer who also ran a boxing club, while her family later fostered and adopted her sister Rosie – who tragically died aged 14 in 2013 after a battle with rare genetic neurological disorder Rett syndrome.

At school, Coleen's life was already intertwined with football.

She met Wayne Rooney when they were just 12, as they moved in the same friendship circle, and they began dating after leaving school at 16.
