Coleen Rooney rejected The Celebrity Traitors because she would struggle with being a liar.

The 39-year-old media personality was approached for the debut star-studded series of the BBC game show in 2025 - which 49-year-old comic Alan Carr won after he successfully deceived his co-stars into thinking he was a Faithful.

Coleen told The Sunday Times newspaper: "I love watching The Traitors. But I don’t know whether I could be that fake.

"If I was a Traitor and I was lying to them, in my head I’d be thinking, ‘Oh, I’d hate people to think that’s what I was like in real life, just like scamming people.'"

While star has ruled out The Celebrity Traitors - in which stars can win up to £100,000 for their chosen charities - Coleen is instead inviting a camera crew into her and 40-year-old husband, ex-professional footballer Wayne Rooney's £20 million Cheshire pad.

This is for a 10-part Disney+ docuseries that explores their relationship.

Discussing the show - a deal worth a reported £10 million, and may also feature the couple's children, Kai, 16, Klay, 12, Kit, 10, and eight-year-old Cass - Coleen said: "It’s not a fly-on-the-wall.

"It’s more getting a glimpse of home life, work life, the next chapter. I don’t know what people are going to think of it.

"But it’s just telling our story, really."

Asked what she wants people to take from the series - which does not have a release date - she added: "I don’t know. I would leave that up to them. It’s their decision."

And a new batch of celebrities are set to decide whether or not to take part in the second season of The Celebrity Traitors, which airs later this year.

Among the names tipped are The Apprentice: Unfinished Business host Angela Scanlon, 42, This Morning co-presenter Alison Hammond, 51, Rivals actor Danny Dyer, 48, and 62-year-old Downton Abbey alum Hugh Bonneville.

The BBC has not yet confirmed the line-up, but David Olusoga - a finalist on The Celebrity Traitors series one - has been called upon for advice from "household names" who have been approached for the second series.

The 56-year-old historian - who played as a Faithful - recently told Saga magazine: "It looks set to be a good cast list next time round too.

"I've spoken to people recently approached to take part who wanted my advice, and they're all household names too."
