Dolly was a vocal and financial ally to the LGBTQ community for decades, frequently breaking country music taboos to support equality. Alongside contributing financial proceeds to HIV/AIDS charity albums in the 1990s, she publicly opposed discriminatory state bills and welcomed everyone to her theme park. She also earned an Academy Award nomination for writing the trans-identity theme anthem Travelin' Thru for the film Transamerica.
