Orlando Bloom
As a reckless 21-year-old during the late 1990s, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor fell three stories when a rooftop drainpipe gave way, leaving him completely paralysed for four days. The fall, in which he narrowly avoided escaped death, fundamentally altered his perspective on his own mortality.
Bloom later reflected on his reckless youth and the accident, explaining: "Until you've come close to losing your life, you just don't appreciate it."
