Beverley Callard's husband Jon McEwan will not allow her to lift a finger amid her early-stage breast cancer battle.

The Coronation Street legend publicly revealed her heartbreaking diagnosis on the February 6 episode of The Late Late Show, and she has "had to" rest the last few days as her spouse takes in furniture deliveries for their new house in Ireland.

On Monday (20.04.26), Beverley, 69, told her Instagram followers: "I have been resting constantly. To be honest, I've had to. Yesterday, Jon didn't let me do anything. Today, our furniture started to arrive, Jon didn't let me do anything."

The entertainer - who recently moved from Norfolk to Ireland to star in the Dublin-based soap Fair City - can currently be seen living in a critter-filled camp and facing gruesome challenges on I'm A Celebrity...South Africa, which was recorded last year.

On Friday (24.04.26), she and her fellow campmates, including Waterloo Road alum Adam Thomas, 37, ex-Wigan Athletic midfielder Jimmy Bullard, 47, and former Gogglebox regular Scarlett Moffatt, 35, will learn who the public has crowned as their I'm A Celebrity...Legend in the live final.

And Beverley is focused on feeling better for the event.

She said: "Got the big I'm A Celebrity final on Friday, which I'm very excited about, and so I've got to get myself well for that."

In her April 16 health update, Beverley revealed to her Instagram followers that the cancer was removed during a big operation on February 20, in which she had three lymph nodes removed as a precaution to ensure the disease does not spread.

But after an agonising two-month wait to find out the results, the Liz McDonald actress' consultant from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital got in touch to say the surgery "went really well" and they "cut the cancer out".

However, a tiny bit of cancer spread to one of the three lymph nodes.

Beverley said: "They took three and cancer is in the first lymph node, it's not in the second, two and three. So it is there, but it's only small."

The lymph node containing the cancer will be "sent to America" to determine "how aggressive" the disease is, which Beverley will find out in "approximately two weeks'” time.

The star added: "If it's aggressive, then I will have to undergo chemo first and then, after that, radiotherapy.

"If it's not aggressive, I will have the radiotherapy as was planned. So, I've just got to wait and see now again."

Beverley felt bittersweet after she found out the results from the big operation.

She explained: "In one way, it was kind of good news that the surgeries worked well, which I'm really pleased about, but because it's in the lymph nodes, it's still a worry. And still a waiting time, which is an absolute pain.

"But there we go, and I'm sure loads of you have been through the same thing. So that's the state of play."
