Sweetheart

In 2019 J. D. Dillard’s movie Sweetheart was released, following the story of a woman named Jenn, played by Kiersey Clemons, who encounters a sea monster (Andrew Crawford) and manages to hide from him, while stranded on an island. In an interview with Forbes, Dillard explain where the inspiration for creating this movie came from.

He recalled: “I was at a wedding in Virginia Beach, and found myself down on the beach with a couple of friends. There was a moment where I was looking out over moonlit water and just thought how absolutely terrifying it would be if something stood up and looked at me.”
