Jake Gyllenhaal was considered to replace Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2 due to Maguire’s back issues, and the actor even underwent screen tests for the role.

He later joked about the situation, saying: “A year from now? The public wouldn’t know the difference.”

However, Maguire’s back eventually improved, and he was able to suit up as the Web-Head once again for the 2004 film.
