John Travolta was considered for the role of Forrest Gump but declined, opting to star in Pulp Fiction instead and allowing Tom Hanks to land the part.

Travolta later reflected: “If I didn’t do something Tom Hanks did, then I did something else that was equally interesting or fun.”
