Just like in the Mission: Impossible franchise, Tom Cruise pushed the limits with the action in Top Gun: Maverick.

He piloted a P-51 Mustang for real and even flew helicopters to set.

While he didn’t fly the Navy's F-18 fighter jet - as his request for doing so was denied by the U.S. Navy, likely due to insurance concerns - Cruise trained in every other aircraft used on screen in the film.

He later said: “I'm doing all the flying. I wanted it to be immersive for the audience.”
