Marriage and divorce

At the height of their fame, Sonny and Cher officially married on March 4, 1969, shortly after the birth of their son, Chaz.

However, by 1975, their relationship had broken down, and the couple divorced. Just a few days later, Cher married Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band, though that marriage also ended in divorce in 1979.
