Dame Maggie Smith remembered

As well as celebrating the biggest and best movies of 2024, the EE BAFTAs also paid tribute to some of the industry’s late stars.

‘Harry Potter’ actress Dame Maggie Smith - who passed away aged 89 in September 2024 - was remembered during the in-memoriam segment of the annual ceremony.

Other late actors like ‘Star Wars’ icon James Earl Jones - who died just weeks before Smith at the age of 91 - also received a tribute at the event.

The tributes were accompanied by ‘Wicked’s Jeff Goldblum, who gave an emotional rendition of ‘As Time Goes By’ on the piano.
