It is almost impossible to think of anyone other than Lisa Kudrow as the quirky Phoebe, who charmed audiences with her rendition of ‘Smelly Cat.’

However, it was reported that Ellen DeGeneres was the producers’ first choice to take on the role of the eccentric guitarist.

The comic was reported to have turned the role down and went on to star in her own self-titled sitcom before getting her own now cancelled talk show in 2004.
