Students at the University of Iowa had the chance to learn about the life of music of the King of Rock and Roll back in the 1990s.

An academic even dismissed suggestions that 'American Popular Arts: Elvis as Anthology' was a "frivolous" option for those completing their studies.

Professor Peter Nazareth said at the time: "This is not a frivolous course by any means. Everything starts somewhere. My attitude is that there's always a beginning."
