All thanks to Tom Cruise
The ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise exists mostly due to Tom Cruise.
After founding his production company Cruise/Wagner Productions in 1992, the actor took inspiration from his childhood to bring the spy series to the big screen.
As a youngster, the actor absolutely loved the original ‘Mission: Impossible’ TV show - which ran from 1966 to 1973 before it was briefly revived in the 80s - and was determined to adapt it for the silver screen.
Tom approached Paramount Pictures, who owned the rights to the series, to see if they would be willing to make a ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie, and eventually emerged from the negotiations with a $70 million budget to make the film.
