The topiary was made of chicken wire

In his new home in the suburbs, Edward Scissorhands takes on the task of making beautiful topiary from the shrubbery in the Boggs back garden. In order to make these sculptures, the set design team used chicken wire threated through with greenery.

When filming was over, Tavern On The Green in Central Park, New York, acquired some of the sculptures for their restaurant.
