'I'm in the middle of a chain reaction...' Continued success
Despite her film career taking a backseat, Diana continued to release hit record after hit record. In 1981, she left Motown Records and accepted a 20 million, seven-year recording contract with RCA Records instead. None of these albums sold nearly as well as her chart-toppers with Motown Records, but this decade did provide her with another signature hit in the form of 'Chain Reaction'.
By 1988, she had returned to Motown on the condition that she have shares in the company as a part-owner. That same year, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Music Hall of Fame.
