Accuracy vs creative liberty
Steven Spielberg really wanted the dinosaurs to be as accurate as possible, and so hired paleontologist Jack Horner to oversee the creatures’ movements and characteristics.
Still, the director took some creative liberties in order to achieve his desired look for the dinosaurs.
For example, after he was sent a photo of a Tyrannosaurus rex’s tooth - which is banana-shaped - Steven opted to sharpen its gnashers to make it look more intimidating.
