Jesse Tyler Ferguson coming out

Although Jesse Tyler Ferguson's character Mitchell Pritchett is fortunate enough to have Jay as a father who is accepting of his same-sex marriage to Cameron Tucker, the actor sadly didn’t have as a good a relationship with his own father.

Jesse revealed he came out on three separate occasions, with his dad Bob only accepting his son’s sexuality by the third time.

Reflecting on the situation, the actor said: “He would conveniently forget. The last time was, he asked me if I had a girlfriend, and I was like, 'Dad, I'm gay.'"
