9. Family Ties

'Family Ties' was the Ohio-based sitcom that made a star out of Michael J. Fox.

He was so committed to his role as Alex P. Keaton that he continued to shoot scenes for 'Family Ties' while filming as Marty McFly in 1985's 'Back to the Future', which proved to be his big screen breaktout.

After seven seasons and one film, it all came to an end in 1989 with the episode 'Alex Doesn't Live Here Anymore' that pulled in 36.3 million viewers.
