Pay disputes

For the first nine years, the main six voice actors were paid $30,000-an-episode.

After a pay dispute, during which the Fox network threatened to fire the actors, the six voice actors - Dan Castellaneta, Nancy Cartwright, Hank Azaria, Yeardley Smith, Julie Kavner and Harry Shearer - managed to secure $125,000-an-episode after Matt Groening offered his support to their pay dispute.

A few years later, pay became an issue again, which led to a month-long strike in 2004. The cast stopped showing up to recording sessions, which forced the network to concede to their demands, leading to their salaries rising to between $250,000 and $360,000 an episode.
