Gabrielle Union played ambitious cheer squad captain Isis in Peyton Reed's 2000 teen classic ‘Bring It On'.

Although the movie is still popular over 20 years later, Gabrielle, 51, regrets how she portrayed Isis, insisting she had to muzzle what should have been a strong young African American woman.

She said: “I was given full reign to do whatever I wanted with Isis in ‘Bring It On’, and I chose respectability and to be classy and take the high road because I felt like that would make her be appropriate — the right kind of black girl ... I muzzled her." Asked what she would have done differently with Isis, she answered that she would have "allowed her to be angry" and "allowed her her full humanity".
