02. Chuck Berry
In penultimate place is the legendary Chuck Berry.
The rhythm and blues and rock and roll pioneer - who died in 2017 aged 90 - was often dubbed the Father of Rock thanks to hits including 'Roll Over Beethoven', 'Rock and Roll Music' and 'Johnny B. Goode' in the '50s.
He is known for blending blues and swing into rock and roll, a style that influenced The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen.
John Lennon famously said: “If you had to give rock and roll another name, you might call it Chuck Berry."
