This Queen of Rock and Roll inspired the late King of Rock And Roll himself, Elvis Presley, and many more.
She is credited for being the first player to use heavy distortion on the electric guitar, pioneering electric blues. Tharpe - who died in 1973 aged 58 - inspired the British blues popularised in the 1960s.
It's been proclaimed that her Manchester concert on a tour with Muddy Waters in 1964 was hugely influential to Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Rolling Stones Keith Richards.
