05. Jeff Beck
That brings us to the incomparable Jeff Beck.
The late guitar legend shot to fame as part of the Yardbirds in the 1960s. The legendary guitarist replaced Eric Clapton in the group before he teamed up with Sir Rod Stewart to form the Jeff Beck Group.
Beck's innovative approach to making music influenced a host of well-known artists during the '60s and beyond, including Sir Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix, and even Hollywood star and Hollywood Vampires rocker Johnny Depp, with whom he recorded the album '18' with and toured alongside before his passing aged 78 in 2023.
However, he later confessed that his pioneering use of feedback was actually developed by accident.
At a large venue, the PA was "inadequate". So they decided to "crank up" the level, which resulted in the feedback.
