10. Duane Allman
The co-founder of the Allman Brothers Band alongside his late brother Gregg Allman, Duane - who tragically passed away in November 1971, aged just 24, after a motorcycle accident - sure cemented his place in rock history.
A master of the slide guitar, he began playing at the age of 14 and swiftly became an innovator of the instrument.
Duane - who also performed with the likes of Aretha Franklin and Herbie Mann - was known for his acclaimed guitar tone,
using the Gibson Les Paul and two 50-watt bass Marshall amplifiers.
