The 'Purple Haze' singer got his schooling backing rhythm and blues acts such as Little Richard and left an indelible mark in music. Pushing the envelope with his cutting-edge style, he could pull off a wide variety of genres. By accident, he became known for smashing his guitars and amps on stage.
He was also known for his guitar feedback improvisation.
