Miniskirt mania
The garment most associated with Quant is the miniskirt.
The garment has been described as one of the most defining styles of the 'Swinging Sixties'.
Although there is much discussion about who first created the miniskirt, there's ni doubt that Quant's creations popularised it.
She said: "It was the girls on the King's Road [during the "Swinging London" scene] who invented the miniskirt. I was making easy, youthful, simple clothes, in which you could move, in which you could run and jump and we would make them the length the customer wanted. I wore them very short and the customers would say, 'Shorter, shorter.'"
The miniskirt which was named after her favourite car, the Mini, got even bigger thanks to her collaboration with model Twiggy.
