Mikey Madison's family have helped her to remain "tethered to the ground" since her Oscars success.

The 27-year-old star won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Anora, the 2024 romantic comedy-drama movie, and Mikey has credited her family for keeping her feet on the ground.

The actress - who has two sisters and two brothers - told People: "I have some really incredible people around me, like my family, friends that help keep me, like, tethered to the ground.

"I don’t know in terms of advice, I’m not sure, but my brothers are constantly reminding me that I’m just their sister. Yeah, I’m being humbled."

Mikey stars alongside Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong, Bill Burr, Betty Gilpin, and Billy Magnussen in The Social Reckoning, the new legal thriller film about the 2021 Facebook leak by the whistleblower Frances Haugen and Jeff Horwitz.

The actress explained that she was looking for a role that "felt right" following her Oscars success.

She shared: "I think when you think about things like putting pressure on yourself, I don’t think that can do anything positive for you.

"Really, I just want to hopefully have a long career working with interesting people, people who wanna tell powerful stories, playing fun characters and existing in fun universes, and so that’s my biggest goal.

"And with this particular role, I was just really drawn to my character’s beautiful moral compass, and I felt like she had a really compelling emotional restraint of her.

"I had never explored that before as an actor, so it just happened to be the next role, and it felt right."

Mikey previously admitted that she needed some time to "digest" her Oscars win.

The actress described the Oscars as a "very, very surreal night" - but admitted that she was still in a daze the day after.

Asked if her success had "sunk in", she told The Hollywood Reporter: "Absolutely not, no. I don’t know when it will.

"I’m still kind of floating in a dreamlike state. It was a very, very surreal night — very interesting and obviously, celebratory and wonderful. But I think that I need time to really digest the magnitude of it."
