Jade Thirlwall and Hans Zimmer drop 'special' song for Blue Planet III
Sir David Attenborough's new series Blue Planet III will feature a powerful song written by former Little Mix star Jade and iconic film composer Hans Zimmer.
Jade Thirlwall has teamed up with Hans Zimmer to create a new song for Blue Planet III.
The former Little Mix singer, who is now simply known by her monosyllabic stage name Jade, has collaborated with the iconic film composer, plus Bleeding Fingers Music's Thom Lucas, on the original song Into The Deep (Seas Cry) for the launch of Sir David Attenborough's upcoming new BBC show.
She said in a statement: "I’ve been a huge fan of Blue Planet for many years and have so many memories of watching the show throughout both childhood and adulthood.
"Sir David Attenborough is a true hero of mine. Being part of Blue Planet III in this way feels incredibly special and a real privilege.
"I’m so proud of Into The Deep (Seas Cry) and it was amazing to create it with Hans Zimmer and his team. I can’t wait for people to hear it and see the beautifully moving new trailer.”
The song received its first global play on Tuesday (06.10.26) morning on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show with Greg James, and it will accompany the world premiere of the extended Blue Planet III trailer this evening at 7pm.
The song was created especially for Blue Planet's return, 5 years after the original series left viewers captivated.
The BBC added that the collaboration "continues the long-running creative partnership between Hans Zimmer, Bleeding Fingers Music and BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit".
Thom Lukas said: "Blue Planet III offered an extraordinary opportunity to explore and translate the depths of the ocean through an expansive sonic lens.
"Working with JADE, we set out to capture the brilliant light, deep shadows and intense emotional gravity of life beneath the waves.
"We’re honoured to collaborate with the BBC on this series and help bring this vast underwater world to life."
The new series, which is coming to BBC One and iPlayer this autumn, will again by narrated by Sir David.
The BBC teased: "The new series reveals extraordinary stories from some of the planet’s most important and least understood marine environments, filmed using cutting-edge technology, with an original score and soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and Bleeding Fingers Music."
The BBC has also taken the chance to pay tribute to the late George Fenton, who was behind the iconic score for the original series in 2001.
They said: "Over more than two decades, George composed many of the Natural History Unit’s most memorable soundtracks, from The Trials of Life to Frozen Planet, bringing extraordinary emotion, scale and wonder to stories of the natural world.
"Whether playful, intimate or truly epic, his music became inseparable from the images it accompanied and inspired generations of viewers around the world.
"Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this sad time."
Into The Deep (Seas Cry) will be available to stream and download globally from 7pm on October 6.
