Coronation Street legend Tina O'Brien isn't sure her cobbles career is 'forever'
Corrie star Tina O'Brien has played Sarah Platt on the ITV soap for 20 years, but another two decades isn't guaranteed.
Tina O'Brien isn't sure if she wants to stay on Coronation Street "forever".
The 43-year-old actress, who is celebrating two decades as Sarah Platt on the ITV soap, has admitted there's no guarantee she will remain on the cobbles for the rest of her career.
She told Bella magazine: "I am really happy here at Corrie. Do I want to do it forever? I don't know, but I am very grateful for a job I genuinely love."
Tina, who is happily "very single", has daughter Scarlett, 17, with ex and former castmate Ryan Thomas, and son Beau, 11, with her ex husband Adam Crofts.
She explained that having a steady job as an actress is something she doesn't take for granted.
She added: "I love being able to come home for my son. If I were a jobbing actress, I'd have to go to a lot of auditions.
"This role enables me to be there for my son and do something I am passionate about."
Tina, who co-parents Beau with Adam, joked that she doesn't take any motherhood guidance from her cobbles character.
She quipped: "'What would Sarah do? Yeah, don't do that!'"
However, she noted that Sarah has "a lot of sides to her" which make her so fun to play.
Despite spending 20 years on Corrie, Tina insisted she still doesn't feel like an icon of the soap.
She explained: "I don't feel like one! I grew up [on the show] from a very young age with the true icons, Helen [Worth] and Sue [Nicholls], who played Gail and Audrey.
"I feel very honoured and lucky to be working with Jack [P Shepherd] and Ben [Price].
"Even just before Helen left, we were comparing her to Hilda Ogden, she was going, 'Oh no, not me' and I feel the same."
Meanwhile, Tina said that her on-screen family all feel "so lucky" to have such strong chemistry on screen.
Asked if the Platts are "best friends", she added: "We are so lucky that we work incredibly well together.
"Nobody tries to outdo each other and we are a team. It's a lovely place to work."
