Jodie Marsh has been charged with assault following an alleged bust-up with a neighbour over her animals.

The former glamour model, 47, is facing one charge of common assault relating to the alleged use of "threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence", according to The Sun newspaper. Speaking about the incident that led to the charge, Jodie told the publication it stemmed from a confrontation with a neighbour who she claims has been filming the animals at her Fripps Farm sanctuary and doctoring the clips to make them look unhealthy.

She told The Sun: "I put my hand on his neck because I leaned in to whisper to him. I can’t even remember what I said because I was so upset. It lasted around 30 seconds.

"I’m scared to sleep in my own house. I’m scared to go out. I didn’t actually injure him in any way."

Jodie is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court in Essex, England on Friday (17.04.26). The charge of common assault carries a maximum sentence of six months in prison.

Jodie has turned her back on the entertainment industry in recent years to focus on helping animals in need and she currently has around 250 residents in her sanctuary including alpacas and goats.

However, she's faced opposition from some neighbours and she recently attempted to appeal her local council’s decision to refuse her application for a licence which would allow her to house wild animals.

Speaking to Heat magazine in 2003, Jodie insisted she's the "happiest" she has ever been since setting up Fripps Farm. She said: "I don't give a s*** about showbiz, or how I look, or about my weight or anything.

"I genuinely would rather be here than at some premiere, and I feel like a lot of celebs would rather be at the premiere than doing anything meaningful in life ... I regularly end up in tears from messages of support from the public ...

"This is the happiest I've ever, ever f***** been. Ever. This is not just what I wanted to do, but this is what I should've been doing. This is all I've ever wanted and more."
