Doctor Who legend dead at 80
A Doctor Who legend has passed away at the age of 80.
Tom Chadbon has died at the age of 80.
The actor, who starred in Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, and the James Bond film Casino Royale, passed away over the weekend.
On Monday (27.07.26), Fantom Events publishing company, which Tom was a client of, said in a statement: "We are sorry to hear the news that Tom Chadbon passed away last weekend.
"Tom was a familiar face to many from his numerous television and film credits, including Doctor Who, James Bond and Game of Thrones.
"He was always a warm and friendly man to work with, and we send our condolences to his family at this sad time."
Lisa Bowerman, 64, who also starred in Doctor Who, led tributes to Tom in the post's comments section.
She penned: "Oh no… I hadn’t heard. How incredibly sad. He was wonderful."
One fan typed: "That's very sad. I really liked Tom as a brilliant jobbing actor, and he did some great work. RIP Tom, thanks for the memories. x (sic)"
A second supporter wrote: "No way. Lovely person. R.I.p. 2026 has been the worse year. (sic)"
And a third follower penned: "My. Met him several times through fantom. Each time he was a thorough gent."
Born in Luton, Bedfordshire, in February 1946, Tom was best known for playing Inspector Thomas Duggan in the 1963 Doctor Who serial City of Death.
He returned to the show for the 1986 serial The Trial of a Time Lord, playing Merdeen, and also contributed to spin-off audio programmes.
One of Tom's last roles was as High Septon Maynard in the HBO fantasy drama, Game of Thrones.
The entertainer's other TV credits included the Channel 4 sitcom Peep Show (Martin), BBC medical dramas, Casualty (Professor Henry Williams), and Holby City, and the ITV police procedural The Bill (Paul Sagger MP).
Tom was also a star on the big screen, appearing in the likes of the 2006 James Bond film, Casino Royale (the Stockbroker), the 1972 comedy, The Alf Garnett Saga (Jim), and the 1997 romcom, Shooting Fish (Mr. Greenaway).
