Carol McGiffin refuses to have a second facelift despite first one 'coming to the end of its life'
Carol McGiffin had a facelift in 2018, but she will not have a second one.
Carol McGiffin will not get a second facelift.
The former Loose Women panellist's 2018 cosmetic procedure - which left her toyboy husband Mark Cassidy, 43, "horrified" - is "coming to the end of its life", but the star cannot bear going through the gruesome "butchery" again.
Appearing on the latest episode of the Best Suddenly Single podcast, Carol, 66, said: "He didn't like the [aftermath] because it was gruesome, the first two weeks where you’re bruised ...
"All I’ve had is that facelift, and that was in 2018, so it is coming to the end of its life, and I do need another one. But I'm not having another one, I'm not going there again, I couldn't do it to Mark. He was horrified.
"I can't afford it anymore; it was expensive."
In October 2025, Carol - who met Mark at a Loose Women wrap party in 2008 and married him in Bangkok, Thailand, in February 2018 - admitted her facelift had not lasted as long as hoped because she had "lately started to hate [her] own face".
Carol wrote in her column for Best magazine: "Lately, I have started to hate my own face. That doesn't mean I hate myself, no, I love myself because I am fabulous!
"But, when I look in the mirror, I don't see myself anymore, I see a decrepit old woman, and I think, 'Who the b***** hell is that???
"It's partly my own fault, I suppose, for having a great life and living in the sun, but also for not buying into the Botox or other 'tweaks' for all these years, but silly me, I thought the expensive, full 'cut and paste' facelift I had in 2018 would last longer than it has.
"Unfortunately, I'm not one of those women who have the money, the time and the high pain threshold to endure endless needles or whatever else is going into their faces.
"Am I jealous? Yeah, actually I am! Because some of those women look unbelievable."
She then referred to Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas, 65, who recently splashed out thousands of pounds on non-invasive procedures to improve her skin, via six NeoGen nitrogen plasma treatments, and the Triple Collagen Reset procedure.
And Carol said Mark loves her natural beauty.
The Celebrity Big Brother 2013 housemate said: "Luckily, Mark doesn't seem to mind, or he pretends not to notice, but it's all made worse by the fact he's younger than me by 22 years and had his eyesight fixed a few years ago, so instead of waking up to a blurred beauty, he gets the harsh reality.
"The only positive is that he also lives in the sun and is ageing as well, very nicely as it happens."
