Loose Women star Carol McGiffin has quit TV declaring she doesn't "want to go back" because it's "too difficult".

The 66-year-old broadcaster appeared on the ITV show across 23 years but she stepped down for good back in 2023 and she's now confirmed she has walked away from the entire TV industry because she has "no interest" in being a part of it any more.

During an appearance on Best magazine’s Suddenly Single podcast, Carol opened up about her decision to leave TV behind, saying: "It’s too difficult to work in television anymore. So, I don’t want to go back. Not just to Loose Women. I’ve just got no interest in being on mainstream TV. Not that anyone would employ me."

She also dismissed suggestions she didn't get along with her former Loos Women co-stars, saying: "Tensions with the panellists? No. I wouldn’t say I didn’t like some of them ...

"There were just some people who were very different to me. We didn’t have anything in common, so we wouldn’t have gone to lunch or anything."

Carol previously admitted she misses appearing on Loose Women but she has no regrets over her decision to walk away from the job she once loved because she felt like she no longer "fit in" on the panel and she didn't like having to tone down some of her opinions.

In an interview with OK! magazine in 2024, she explained: "It was once a great job. It doesn't really have many alternative opinions now. And I do watch it occasionally to remind myself that I made the right decision.

"I don't regret leaving – I don’t fit in there anymore. Someone, somewhere will be offended by absolutely everything. I'd rather not be on a show that panders to that.

"It's boring – and I won’t be told what I can or can't say."

Despite having problems with the show, Carol stressed she was "still very good friends with a lot of the Loose ladies".

She told the publication: "Denise Welch popped down here with Lincoln [Townley, her husband] last year and we met them for lunch. I've seen Kaye [Adams], Jane [Moore] and Nadia [Sawalha] a few times."
