Spencer Matthews rejects Strictly Come Dancing
Spencer Matthews has shared why he will never appear on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing - despite wanting to learn how to dance.
Spencer Matthews has ruled out doing Strictly Come Dancing.
The Made in Chelsea alum does not have the time to learn many Latin and Ballroom choreographies on the BBC competition - despite wanting to learn how to dance.
Revealing his response if asked to do Strictly Come Dancing, Spencer - whose sister-in-law Amber Williams did the 2026 series of Ireland's Dancing with the Stars in January - told the new issue of RSVP magazine: "I would ordinarily just say no.
"I like a challenge, I can't dance. I'd love to learn how to dance.
"Similar to The Jump, where [wife] Vogue [Williams] and I met, it's an awesome concept for a show, so it's fun to do it.
"I would only really look at reality television if there was something to learn, a skill to hone and something to take away.
"The problem with Strictly is just that it's very, very time consuming. It's not on the agenda."
Spencer, 37, won the 2017 series of the axed Channel 4 show The Jump - which saw celebrities battle it out in different winter sports - and reached the final of BBC's Celebrity MasterChef in 2018.
He lost to former EastEnders star John Partridge, 54, whose menu, titled There's No Taste Like Home - Pan-fried scallops starter, lamb and potato Lancashire hotpot main, and egg custard tart - won over ex-hosts Gregg Wallace, 61, and 60-year-old John Torode.
It was alleged that Spencer had sought secret cooking lessons from multi-Michelin-starred chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, 65, ahead of taking part in the cookery competition.
But a year after it aired, Spencer joked it was not Jean-Christophe, but his friend James Lowe.
During an appearance on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch at the time, Spencer said: "I’d never heard of the bloke until the article came out.
"Honestly, I got help off a pal, but it wasn’t him. So that whole thing really confused me, because Jean-Christophe Novelli, he was saying it was true – I’ve never met him.
"Never heard of him, prior to that. My friend James Lowe felt very deflated – James Lowe helped me cheat.
"I think if you want to compete in any competition, it quite helps to pick up some tips."
