Line of Duty star Craig Parkinson and Katie Popperwell have tied the knot - but their "magical day" was almost cancelled.
Line of Duty's Craig Parkinson is married - but he almost had to call off the wedding after a theft ordeal and not having a place to host lunch.
The 50-year-old actor, who played corrupt policeman Matthew "Dot" Cottan on the BBC crime drama, secretly tied the knot with Katie Popperwell in July in an intimate ceremony at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall, surrounded by family and "a few" pals.
But the couple's "magical day" was nearly thrown into chaos after Craig had his phone snatched at Paddington Station the night before, while they also struggled to find a place to have lunch with their 40 guests following the ceremony, eventually finding the nearby Clipstone Restaurant.
In photos from their nuptials, shared on Instagram on Sunday (13.09.26), Katie stunned in a striking white, low-cut-back, sleeveless floor-length wedding dress, while dapper Craig wore a dark burgundy suit with a matching shirt and tie, as they celebrated on the venue's steps as guests showered them with confetti.
She carried a beautiful bouquet featuring pink, peach and white flowers with greenery, while Craig completed his look with a white flower boutonniere.
The entertainer captioned the joyous upload: "Posting this from the beach in Sicily so excuse any sand in the cracks but it is time to share our happy news.
"Back in July Katie and I were married at Old Marylebone Town Hall with our family and a few close friends. We originally wanted to do something bigger but mid-life is complicated, right?
"It really was a perfect day. From the fact that we had a chic registrar from Leeds, to my dear friend @kennydoughty taking care of my shattered nerves after my phone was nicked at Paddington the night before.
"We were lucky to have our brilliant director friend @kieronhawkes moonlighting as wedding photographer and our beloved @edenkeane as Maid of Honour going above and beyond on styling and psychological support.
"She and my best man Neil did get a touch competitive when it came to the speeches - BOTH of which were barnstormers. (sic)"
Craig continued: "We almost had to cancel the whole thing when we couldn’t find anywhere for lunch but @clipstonerestaurant emerged from the mist like a mystical wedding oasis with the most incredible sharing menu and the warmest hospitality.
"It’s hard not to fall into cliche when talking about this but it really WAS the most magical day of our lives. Thank you to all of our family and friends that made the day so full of love.
"We’re both keeping our surnames but we don’t mind if you want to call us The Poppinsons (sic)."
The couple, who got engaged in 2024, were bombarded with congratulatory messages in the post's comments section.
Comedienne Sarah Millican, 51, penned: "Well, this is delightful. Congratulations to you both xxx (sic)."
Casualty alum Sunetra Sarker, 53, typed: "Couldn’t have chosen a better bride for you PC Parkinson. Xx (sic)"
And Magic Radio's Gaby Roslin, 62, wrote: "Massive love and huge congratulations."
