Coronation Street's Beverley Callard reveals sex fear with husband after breast cancer surgery
Former Coronation Street star Beverley Callard revealed she is worried her husband Jon McEwan may no longer find her attractive after undergoing lymph node surgery on February 20 amid her early-stage breast cancer battle.
Beverley Callard fears she and her husband will not have sex anymore following the star's operation amid her early-stage breast cancer battle.
The Coronation Street alum - who got her heartbreaking diagnosis 20 minutes before filming her first scenes in Dublin-based soap Fair City - is worried Jon McEwan will not find her attractive anymore after the actress had two lymph nodes removed on February 20.
Beverley - who previously panicked about being "lopsided" following the operation, which was needed as a precaution to ensure the cancer does not spread - made the heartbreaking admission in her latest health update video, shared to Instagram on Tuesday (24.02.26).
The star - who has been married to Jon since 2010 - said: "I've still got dressings on, so I don't know what I look like, and I'm scared of that.
"I keep thinking - maybe too much information - but I think will Jon and I still be swinging from the chandeliers - not right now - but you know what I mean.
"Will I still be attractive, or not? So all that's going through my head."
Beverley - who was "kept in overnight" at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, with "minor complications" following the operation on February 20 - also shared that she is going back to the hospital on Wednesday (25.02.26) to find out if a second operation is needed.
At the start of her latest health update video, the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 campmate assured her fans she is "doing OK", but feels "really sore under my arm".
And Beverley - who praised the medical staff at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for being "truly amazing" - shared how the operation has left her feeling exhausted and unable to eat properly.
The actress - best known for playing icon Liz McDonald on Coronation Street from 1989 until 2020 - said: "I've done nothing, to be honest.
"But I was really, really tired. Got up, had a bit of breakfast, but I've got no appetite whatsoever at the moment, but I'm trying. Jon's force-feeding me.
"And then I went back to bed, fell asleep, then I got up for an hour, went back to bed again. I was like that all day. I didn't even comb my hair. I could not be bothered."
Beverley got her lymph nodes and lymph glands tested for cancer on February 11.
And in her February 18 health update video, she said doctors are "pretty sure that [the cancer] is not in the lymph nodes", but were removing two "to make sure".
On February 6, Beverley announced her breast cancer diagnosis during an appearance on The Late Late Show.
She told 55-year-old host Patrick Kielty: "It's difficult to know where to start.
"I knew I was coming over here for four weeks, and then I'd have a couple of weeks back in the UK, and then back here - for a long time
"I'd had some tests just before I left the UK and literally 15 to 20 minutes before [her first scene] I was in my dressing room at Fair City, getting ready to go on, and I was quite nervous and thinking, 'I hope everybody thinks I'm all right, whatever.'
"And my consultant rang me and said, 'You've got to come back to the UK.' I said, 'Well, I can't possibly, you know, I've just taken a new job, I'm away for a month.'
"I was diagnosed with breast cancer."
Beverley stressed that the disease was caught early, saying: "I'm fine. I'm absolutely fine. My head was a bit mashed for the first few days. It's very early stages, and I'm along with, you know, thousands of other women as well.
"It's early stages. I travel back to the UK tomorrow (07.02.26), just for a couple of weeks. They're going to test lymph nodes and lymph glands and all that."
Beverley - who hopes to still play Lily, the long-lost mum of Carrigstown resident Gwen, played by co-star Emily Lamey, in Fair City - added she needed "an operation and some radiotherapy".
