Beverley Callard forced to miss the live I'm A Celebrity South Africa final on 'medical advice'
Former Coronation Street Beverley Callard has been left "absolutely gutted" after revealing she will miss the live I'm A Celebrity... South Africa final on Friday night (24.04.26) on medical advice, amid her breast cancer battle.
Beverley Callard will miss the live I'm A Celebrity... South Africa final on Friday night (24.04.26) after doctors advised her not to travel to London for the event amid her breast cancer battle.
The Coronation Street icon, 69, was forced to leave the ITV show - which was mostly shot in South Africa in September - on medical grounds, but she was due to appear at the live London-based final on Friday.
However, Beverley has been advised to stay at home in Dublin and rest, because the final will be a "long day" and a "very late night" - but she is "absolutely gutted" to miss out.
She said in an Instagram video: "Yesterday, I should have flown over to England to get ready for the I'm A Celeb final.
"I was so excited and looking forward to it, but on medical advice, I can't go. So, I am absolutely gutted.
"I was dying to see them all and it would have been brilliant. I can't go and yesterday, the flights were booked and everything but no.
"They said, basically, it's too long a day with flying there and then a very late night etc. Anyway, so here I am.
"But I will be watching and I will be on a Zoom chatting to everybody.
"So, I've got to make the best of a bad job, but I am resting and I am doing as I am told. Thanks to everybody."
She also wrote in the caption: "A last minute change of plans...Absolutely gutted but I know it’s for the best. Resting up and getting well is more important at the moment. #imaceleb (sic)"
On Thursday night's (23.04.26) episode, Olympian Sir Mo Farah, football manager Harry Redknapp, Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas and actor and DJ Craig Charles all progressed to the all-male live finale, after former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt was sent home after finishing last in a task to see who would make the final four.
Earlier this week, Beverley - who played Corrie's Liz McDonald - revealed she had to leave I'm A Celebrity... South Africa after she "lost consciousness for a little while" in the show's Bush Telegraph.
Unbeknown to her at the time, that was the beginning of her breast cancer battle.
Reflecting on her I'm A Celebrity departure - which was shown on Tuesday night's (21.04.26) episode of the series - a tearful Beverley said in an Instagram video: "I just watched my exit on I'm A Celeb and it made me cry all over again. Of course, I didn't know then that I had cancer, but I just knew that it was the last couple of days there that I hadn't felt very well.
"What happened was, I was called into the Bush Telegraph and apparently, I lost consciousness for a little while. I went yonderly, as they say. I just wasn't feeling myself.
"They took me to a medical hut and they were amazing. They really looked after me and they said, 'You can't go back.'
"And I said, 'Don't send me home, I'm sure I'll be fine. I've jumped off a plane and hung off a cliff.'
"I wanted to succeed and make it through to the end, but that was the start of everything."
