Sherrie Hewson was forced to pull out of an appearance on Vanessa Feltz's Channel 5 show on Monday (05.01.26) after being struck down by a winter sickness virus.

The 75-year-old actress was due to be a guest on the daytime chat show to discuss her new podcast Very Very Sherrie as well as her career and more.

However, former Loose Women panellist Sherrie was hit with the illness in the morning and despite making a valiant attempt to travel, Sherrie became too unwell and was forced to turn back before even reaching the station.

A source told BANG Showbiz: "Sherrie was absolutely gutted to let the show down and is now focusing on her recovery. Sherrie will be tucked up in bed and getting lots of rest to beat the bug.

"She hopes she’ll be asked back on by Vanessa once she’s back to full health."

Former Coronation Street actress Sherrie launched her Very Very Sherrie podcast - which is available on all podcast platforms, with more information available on the official website - in late 2025 and it features interviews with celebrity guests and candid confessions from her about her career and life.

Recently, Sherrie admitted she is "hoping desperately" for a Benidorm revival.

She played Solana hotel manageress Joyce Temple-Savage on the ITV sitcom from 2012 until it ended in 2018 and is hoping that talk of a revival of the Spanish-set series comes to fruition.

Sherrie said: "We are all campaigning for it to come back.

"We are hoping desperately that it comes back and we'd love it because we'd get to go back to Benidorm.

"I love the character Joyce Temple-Savage. Derren Litten wrote that and I thought it was one of the best characters I've ever played.

"I would love it to come back. We'll see, watch this space.

"There isn't a comedy on ITV at the moment so it needs it to come back.

"I'm waiting to hear and I'd catch the plane today."

Benidorm creator Derren Litten revealed in April 2025 that he was in discussions with ITV about a potential new series.

The comedy writer said: "If I say ITV have not commissioned a new Benidorm series, it is because ITV have not commissioned a new Benidorm series, up to today. Does it mean they might commission a new series in the near future? Possibly.

"Have I been talking to ITV in the last few months? Yes I have.

"Have ITV commissioned a special or a series at the moment? No. Might they in the next few weeks, couple of months? Yeah they might. They might.

"So I hope that gives you some hope, and I hope that gives you some idea of where we are."
