Amy Dowden is "dreaming of dancing again" as she recovers from her second mastectomy surgery.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer - who was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 and received the all-clear the following February - was forced to pull out of the Latin and ballroom show this year after her medical team advised her to undergo a second mastectomy.

Amy, 35, went under the knife last week, and she is planning to "make the most of every second, step, beat" once she has fully recovered.

She wrote on Instagram: "Dreaming of dancing again!

"Once I'm recovered, going to make the most of every second, step, beat."

Amy also admitted dancing has been a huge help through the "tough times" in her life.

She said: "Dancing has always been what's driven me out of tough times as well as giving me the best of times, including my husband and friends who are like family!"

Last week, Amy took to social media to share a post-op photo, and she thanked fans for their support.

She wrote: "Feeling so much better this morning. Again can’t THANK YOU all enough for the well wishes, love and beautiful messages I’ve received.

"Not gone unnoticed and so appreciated. Welsh love to you all, always. (sic)"

Just hours earlier, Amy admitted her surgery had gone "well".

She posted: "Thank you for all the messages and love. Sorry I’ve not replied to anyone, (only just looked at my phone). surgery went well and lots of sleep and resting up.

"Hubby + Family have been looking after me and the besties have turned up with the goods and nothing is stopping us from watching the traitors...keeping the tradition going. (sic)"

Last week, Amy vowed to "dance [her] way through 2026".

After announcing she had been forced to pull out of this year's Strictly, she posted: "Hello everyone, I just wanted to come on and just say a massive thank you for the love and support, all the messages, comments I’ve received today.

"It’s been so overwhelming, and so so kind of you all.

"I’m going into this really fit, really strong, really positive.

"I’m going to do all I can to get back with my Strictly family as soon as I can and I’m going to make sure I dance my way through 2026."

Amy and her celebrity dance partner Thomas Skinner were the first pairing to be eliminated in this year's series, but she had continued dancing in the pro group dances each week.
