Graham Norton performed ventriloquist act for goldfish
As a child, Graham Norton got a goldfish and a ventriloquist dummy one Christmas, and he performed an act for his pet until 4am.
Graham Norton spent hours entertaining his goldfish with a ventriloquist dummy as a child.
The 62-year-old comedian got the pet and the puppet one Christmas, and the broadcaster hailed his "ventriloquist act" as the best Christmas memory.
Graham told the new issue of Woman's Own magazine: "One Christmas, I got a goldfish and a ventriloquist dummy.
"I was still up at 4am entertaining my fish with my new ventriloquist act!"
In 2022, the Father Ted actor married filmmaker Jonathan 'Jono' McLeod in front of 120 guests in a private, intimate ceremony in Cork, Ireland.
And they are selling their £4.95 million, four-bedroom pad in Wapping, East London, to move to a more central location.
Graham explained: "We're selling the London house just because I've lived here for 20 years, and it's good to make bold decisions as you get older.
"We'll move more centrally, I think."
Earlier this year, the BBC's Eurovision Song Contest commentator sold his charming £6 million, two-bedroom townhouse in Manhattan, New York, formerly owned by 55-year-old supermodel Claudia Schiffer.
The star - who bought the cosy property in 2002 - initially thought the Big Apple would be the perfect place to spend his retirement, but he does not want to stop working, and his and Jonathan's hearts are firmly set on London.
The Graham Norton Show host said: "I always thought that New York would be a great place to retire to, but it turned out that I didn't want to retire - I'm getting great work here.
"Along with the chat show, there's Wheel of Fortune, and a new show for ITV, The Neighbourhood, and writing my books.
"I used to say about London that there are so many things not to do, but I'm loving London now, and we're booking to see more shows, going to exhibitions and eating out more.
"Before, we saved all that energy for New York."
Elsewhere in his interview with the magazine, Graham said he credits moderation for his slim figure.
The star explained: "My husband is vegan, so we eat vegan food at home, and it's delicious, but I can't say it's made any difference to how I feel.
"I haven't stopped anything, but maybe I do everything a bit less. Coffee, wine and spirits - it's all still going on, but probably in smaller quantities.
"I think as you get older, there's a built-in moderation that happens. I think my body has served me well thus far, so let's not take the p***!"
