Kaia Gerber named Creative Partner in Residence at Uni
Kaia Gerber has been appointed the first Creative Partner in Residence at beauty brand Uni.
Kaia Gerber has been appointed Uni's first Creative Partner in Residence.
The 24-year-old model-and-actress' involvement with the beauty brand is currently in the "discovery phase" but she is set to collaborate with them on campaigns, partnerships, events and product development.
Alexandra Keating, founder and CEO of the Los Angeles-based firm told WWD: “Everything’s kind of on the table.
“We’ve just got to figure out what’s right for her and us, and where we think that there’s opportunity.”
Kaia and Alexandra hit it off and began looking at ways to work together after being introduced by a mutual friend when the executive heard the model was already a fan of Uni products.
Alexandra said: “Usually there’s an agency, an agent or management [involved], and you’re not really dealing with the person. With Kaia, it was just her and I."
To kick of the partnership, Kaia has fronted a campign showcasing Uni's 24-hour Body Serum, Plush Marine Shower Oil and Microalgae Body Oil, which will appear across Ulta Beauty stores, and she's delighted to be involved.
She said: “What drew me to Uni was that it never felt like just another body care brand.
"There is a real point of view behind the products. I’ve always treated body care with the same intention as skin care, and Uni makes that ritual feel elevated. As Creative Partner in Residence, I’m excited to help expand that world and be part of what the brand is building next.”
And with Uni continuing to grow, Kaia looks set to be the first of a series of appointments to the Creative Partner in Residence position.
Alexandra said: “I think of this Creative in Residence role as something that we will continue to have. This isn’t just something that we’re going to do with Kaia.”
Meanwhile, Kaia recently spoke of how she loves getting ready for a night so much, she often "doesn't actually care" what happens when she meets up with her friends because she has already had "the best time" in her bedroom making herself look her best.
She told HarpersBazaar.com: "When I was younger and modelling a lot, I almost never wore make-up outside of my job; I didn't have that itch in my personal life.
"But now that I'm older, I've really started to love and appreciate the act of getting ready.
" I just love being a girl so much, and the fact that you can take as much time as you need to get ready. It’s one of my favourite parts of the day.
"I’ve fallen in love with make-up again. I love getting ready - it’s almost like meditation for me, especially if I'm getting ready with friends.
"Once I get to dinner, I don’t actually care because I just had the best time getting ready.
"I think there's a common misconception that we need to wear make-up for other people, and maybe that's true for some people, but I feel most of the women that I talk to are not wearing make-up for other people - they’re wearing it for themselves - myself included."
