I’ve only ever been a nepo baby, says Kaia Gerber
Kaia Gerber admits that she's benefitted hugely from her familial links.
Kaia Gerber has "only ever been a nepo baby".
The 24-year-old star is the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, and Kaia acknowledges that she's benefitted hugely from her familial links.
The brunette beauty - who has enjoyed success as a model and as an actress - told Vogue: "I’ve only ever been a nepo baby, and I’ve only ever benefited in my career from it.
"But I also find myself doing it to other nepo babies, thinking, like, Okay, show me why you deserve this job."
Kaia is currently starring in The Shards, the new teen thriller series, alongside Homer Gere, the son of actors Richard Gere and Carey Lowell.
And Kaia has compared her own experiences to those of her 26-year-old co-star.
She explained: "I said to Homer — because the concept is daunting to him, having lived as an adult so far without that perception, whereas I sort of went through it when I wasn’t fully sentient — I said to him, ‘Homer, unfortunately with this show, it’s not like you’re just any unknown actor and people will judge you as an unknown actor. But what that’s done for me is make me want to work harder.’"
Meanwhile, Kaia recently revealed that she struggles to watch herself on screen.
The actress - who also stars alongside Igby Rigney, Hayes Warner and Wes Bentley in The Shards - admitted that she usually dislikes seeing herself on screen.
Speaking to Hayes for Interview magazine, Kaia - who has also enjoyed huge success as a model - explained: "I’ve watched things that I’m in by myself, and I start ripping myself apart and go into a spiral.
"It’s nice to have people there to reassure you, and you start thinking about it more as the collective rather than just your own individual performance.
"But doing scenes with you, we got so close so quickly, which normally is a red flag and feels like not a real friendship, but it stood the test of time."
