Genevieve Chenneour feared she was "going to die" during a terrifying incident at a rooftop party at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Bridgerton actress, 28, was attending a glitzy event thrown by Variety magazine at the La Terrasse by Albane pop-up restaurant at the JW Marriott hotel in Cannes, France on Wednesday night (13.05.26) when guests - said to include Jordana Brewster and Diane Kruger - heard a "massive bang" and thought the floor was giving way.

Genevieve revealed she ran for her life as she was convinced it was a terror attack. She told the Daily Mail newspaper: "There was this massive bang and the floor almost gave way on the rooftop. We ran out screaming. It was the scariest thing I've ever experienced. It was genuinely insane ...

"I was with a friend and we just had to sprint out and run down the exit. It was so loud, I was convinced it was a terrorist attack or that the ground had fallen through."

She added: "I was like, we're going to die'. The whole ground shook beneath our feet ... We ran down the emergency exit stairs - I was in heels and a dress!

"We just started running and then I screamed, like, everyone, get out! Some people were right by the edge. That must have been terrifying because the floor did actually move."

The incident was previously reported by New York Post column PageSix with a guest telling the publication they heard the "crunch of metal".

The party-goer said: "It was so f****** terrifying. We are standing there having a drink and talking to people, when suddenly there was a loud noise, like breaking metal. It’s so specific. A crunch of metal.

"The whole thing shook violently three or four times. Everyone just f****** freaked out and was scrambling to get out and leave. It was panicked and crazy …

"People were shoving at the beginning, drinks were being spilled. No one made an announcement. Everyone was equally scared."

Another guest told the publication the noise came from a seating area made of plywood which cracked and broke but no one was hurt.

The insider said: "There were risers in a seating area built into a VIP section. They were made of plywood and they cracked and collapsed. No one was hurt, but everyone thought the roof was coming down so everyone lost their minds."

Another insider added: "Everything is fine … No one was in danger. The party was moved to the other side of the roof."
