According to Slim Shady’s mother Debbie Nelson, the rapper has been suffering from respiratory illness from an early age.

In her 2008 book 'My Son Eminem', Debbie wrote: "Since childhood he's suffered bouts of pneumonia. He's always had acute throat infections, like tonsillitis and he's asthmatic. His diet can't help."
