The late Hollywood icon - who died of congestive heart failure on 23 March 2011 aged 79 – suffered from several illnesses throughout her life including cancer, pneumonia and asthma.
Despite her debilitating conditions, the screen goddess catapulted to stardom thanks to her roles in ‘National Velvet’, ‘Cleopatra’ and ‘Butterfield’ and was named seventh on the list of Greatest Female stars of All Time by the American Film Institute.
