Family tragedy and three divorces

Burt had four wives and admitted to cheating on the first three in his tell-all memoir, 'Anyone Who Has a Heart'.

He was married to his first wife Paula Stewart from 1953 to 1958.

Family tragedy struck during his marriage to his second wife Angie Dickinson, who he was with for 15 years between 1965 and 1980.

Their daughter, Nikki Bacharach, born in 1966, suffocated herself with helium on January 4, 2007, after struggling with Asperger syndrome for much of her life.

He went on to tie the knot with lyricist Carole Bayer Sager for nine years between 1982 and 1991, and they adopted a son named Cristopher Elton Bacharach. The pair also made music together.

He married his fourth wife Jane Hansen in 1993, and they had a son called Oliver and a daughter named Raleigh together, who he is survived by.
