Discovering Dionne Warwick
In 1961, Burt came across session accompanist Dionne Warwick.
It didn't take long for the pair to get working together, with Dionne and her sister Dee Dee helping to pen 'Move It on the Backbeat' as Burt and the Backbeats that same year.
A year later, Dionne had her first solo hit with 'Don't Make Me Over'.
Together, Burt and Hal worked their magic on multiple hits for Dionne, including 'Walk On By', 'Anyone Who Had a Heart', 'Alfie', 'I Say a Little Prayer', 'I'll Never Fall in Love Again', and 'Do You Know the Way to San Jose?'.
Burt's songs would go on to be recorded by artists of many genres, including country star Marty Robbins, soul singers Aretha Franklin and Luther Vandross, Cilla Black, and rap legend Dr. Dre.
