Burt and Hal's rocky songwriting partnership
In 1957, Burt and lyricist Hal David met while at the Brill Building in New York City.
Burt composed hundreds of songs throughout the 1950s to 1980s, many in collaboration with lyricist Hal.
However, the songwriting duo's working relationship wasn't always plain-sailing.
While the pair were working on the music for the 1973 remake of 'Lost Horizon', Burt demanded a bigger cut of the royalties, with the composer infamously telling Hal: “F*** you and the f*** the picture."
To add more salt to his wounds, Dionne Warwick sued the pair for failing to record more albums with her.
This led the musician into depression and a refusal to work.
The songwriters eventually reconciled, and Burt paid a heartfelt tribute to Hal when he passed away in 2012, remembering him for writing lyrics "like a miniature movie".
